last night. if the romney camp is saying a win is a win, and he is the candidate, let's see him act like a winner. let's see vim and vigor, and we never get it. >> and the fact that romney is doing so badly a allows the president to get away with what he did at the uaw, this same guy, said he would put on his comfortable shoes and join people on the pickett line. when given that opportunity, he chose to take a safer route. if romney and the field had coalesced and the president was facing a tougher set of opponents we would be writing stories about that kind of thing instead of how this race is going. >> and man, they were not booing him yesterday. >> no. >> coming up over time santorum has inched closer to the center at debates but his rhetoric has gone further to the fringe. has he gone too far? we will ask the national communication director, when he joins us live, next on "now." last night you heard congressman ryan talking about, oh, i don't get asked about where the tax returns are and yet he's essentially sitting there next to governor romney talking about doing away with some of the very tax breaks that we pretty much believe helped governor romney. i'm assuming you are going to stay on this tax discussion as well. >> well, i think, karen, it was interesting that paul ryan said that even though he gave mitt romney several years of tax returns, for mitt romney to look at but he was only going to give the american people two, he's going that to protect mitt romney because mitt romney has taken advantage of every tax shelter in the book. cayman eislands, bahamas, luxembourg, shell corporations in bermuda. he's not invested overseas for his health. he's invested overseas because he's saving money on taxes. these are known tax havens. the only reason to have money in a swiss bank can account is to hide it from the federal government. now, you know, will paul ryan have the strength to stand up to mitt romney to actually close those tax havens? we'll never know.

there were plenty of them who name checked governor romney last night. senate majority leader among them used the opportunity to hit the governor on his tax returns -- >> today's republican party believes in two sets of rules. one for millionaires and billionaires, and another for the middle class. and this year, they have nominated the strongest proponent and clearest beneficiary of this rigged game, mitt romney. >> but while dems were on the attack they also used last night to highlight actual legislation and the record of the president in the oval office. we will get into all of that next on "now." so, we all set? i've got two tickets to paradise! pack your bags, we'll leave tonight. uhh, it's next month, actually... eddie continues singing: to tickets to... paradiiiiiise! no four. remember? whoooa whooaa whooo! you know ronny, folks who save hundreds of dollars by switching to geico sure are happy. and how happy are they jimmy? happier than eddie money running a travel agency. get happy. get geico. fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or mo
